There is something undeniably poetic about a wedding film that captures deep historic roots, breathtaking natural beauty, and a level of high-end elegance that jumps off the screen. Our latest wedding film at the La Lomita Wedding Ranch with a ceremony at the San Luis Obispo Mission, is a perfect example. As wedding filmmakers, we are always on the lookout for stories that unfold effortlessly across stunning landscapes. In addition, this recent black-tie celebration in San Luis Obispo was an absolute thrill to shoot.
From the historic heart of downtown to rolling hills of Edna Valley, here is how this effortlessly sophisticated, formal affair came together on film.
A ceremony at the Mission to a party at La Lomita Ranch
The story began at La Lomita Ranch, a breathtaking 160-acre estate that perfectly embodies luxury “California Romantica” style. Dreamcatcher Artistry crafted a flawless, camera-ready bridal look that perfectly complemented the wedding’s black-tie aesthetic. Once Alea was dressed, she shared a heartfelt moment with her dad before they headed downtown for the ceremony. Michael shared laughs with his groomsman as they got ready and completed some pre ceremony photos around the ranch.
For the ceremony, the couple participated in a traditional catholic ceremony inside the historic, awe-inspiring walls of the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. As the heavy wooden doors swung open, Matthew could hardly hold back tears as he saw his bride for the first time that day. Alea was escorted down the aisle by both parents and she smiled with glee as she approached her groom.
Following the ceremony, everyone returned to La Lomita Ranch for an indoor reception masterfully orchestrated by Scott Chedester with Loven Light Events. In addition, Scott’s seamless coordination alongside the incredible team from Yvonne Goll Photography made capturing poetry in motion effortless.
An Elegant Evening
The event center was transformed into an editorial dream. Coast Event Rentals, All About Events, and Got You Covered laid down a flawless foundation of upscale rentals. Meanwhile, Avenue Twelve injected sophisticated lounge personality on the patio. Draping by Kim added romantic, formal architectural lines. Also, Fluid Bloom adorned every table and service with their beautiful blooms.
For dinner, the guested to enjoyed a seasonal menu by Field to Table Catering as well as crafted cocktails poured by Mixed Events. To top if off, they helped themselves to a wall of cupcakes provided by Seabreeze Cupcakes.
The reception kicked off with their grand entraced followed by their first dance. Afterwards heartfelt speeches by Alea and Michaels family filled La Lomita which set the tone for final edit of their wedding film. Their first dances with their parents opened up the dance floor. Finally, DJ Bert with Loven Light Events got the party pumping in the night. Meanwhile, Cameron Black took to the dance floor with the party goers to play his sax alongside the music.
